The Digital Dan:
Well there had been a 1st gen of this show passing around for a while, but it was always "hush, hush".
But enough people
believed that it was as well kept a secret as ingredients to McDonald's special sauce on their Big Mac's!
To that end, this source is just a little different in that the master cassette was copied to HiFi VHS, well known to long time tapers as the DAT before there was DAT.
While not
digital, the increased frequency range and signal to noise ratio resulted in a much clearer copy than could be obtained with cassettes. Having both versions of 1st gens, the
HiFi version is clearly better.
Many Rush fans have long said that this show is the best complete show from the PEW tour.
And that was said in spite of the lower quality of the more circulated versions of the show.
But the 1st gen is a great step up in quality and clarity making this show an essential part of any collection.
Not only is the performance and sound great, take a look at the setlist. Even though the epics were
slightly truncated on this tour, this still has to be the best Rush setlist ever.
You get all the epics and a nice assortment of other classics to balance it out.
Thanks to Rubicon for helping to obtain this alternate source. As with all Digital Reproductions releases, this is for free trade or blank media trade only.
Do not buy, sell or distribute for profit. Let's keep the spirit of trading alive and well. (January 27, 2002)

This is a great show in all respects......Sound Quality, Setlist, and Performance. Here are the details about the source: Master Cassette > HiFi VHS > DAT > CDR (via digital transfer). As Digital Dan mentions above, a "1st Gen" copy has been floating around for quite sometime, but this new source sounded much clearer and had more dynamic range than the aforementioned. This show was taped by the same person who taped the Rush Hollywood '77 show (see review for Canadian Bacon-Platinum Edition). That source also had a nice warmth to the sound just like this Ft. Worth '80 source. We owe everything to this guy for making such great recordings!! I hope everyone will enjoy this Platinum Edition as I will for many years to come. THIS RECORDING IS AVAILABLE THROUGH TRADING. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS RELEASE, AS IT CAN BE OBTAINED FREE THROUGH STRAIGHT TRADES OR BLANK TRADES. (FEB 'O2).
