The Digital Dan:
All the instruments are clear and discernable and the material, well that speaks for itself. Now there is a full version of both books of Cygnus played strait through. You can just feel as if you're part of this small theatre crowd. This is as close to the full concert as you will get. The mix is excellent as all the instruments come through loud and clear. Cygnus X-1 is a real standout version with incredibly intense performance as Geddy sings it like on the album with that incredibly piercing falsetto. My favorite Rush show by far. I've been trading this show for years in a less complete single disc show always searching for a better, more complete source. After about 8 different sources I finally found one better than my original. My most recommended Hemispheres recording, even more so than the Tucson show because this version is much more livelier. As with all Digital Reproductions recordings, it's only available via free trade and never for sale. Just visit the trading links section to find people that will gladly trade this recording for free.
Ben's Comments:
This is the completion of the "Fresno 78" boot. Which is a good show in it's own right but incomplete. This is my favorite "era" of the band, These shows had a great setlist, Cygnus X-1, Hemispheres, 2112, LaVilla Strangiato, Xanadu, A Farewell to Kings, By-tor! How did I NOT get to see this tour? This has to be one of the best recorded versions of Cygnus and Hemispheres that I've heard, only missing part of the Sphere. (if you want a good version of Sphere get Pink Pop!!) If you want a good "Tour of the Hemispheres" show, this is currently the one to get! Trust me, it'll never leave your cd player!!!
Bill Girton:
This is a good audience recording. All of the instruments are clear and distinct except the bass which is a little muddy. The performance features a complete, uncut performance of Cygnus X-I: Books I and II. Well, actually the very beginning of The Sphere is missing. Also missing is the encore. Geddy seems to be in a good mood and goofs around some with the vocals. Overall a good recording.
